Prestigious leadership role at leading trade association signifies Chen’s expertise and dedication to the continued growth and prosperity of the systems integration industry.

Kordz managing director, James Chen, was recently bestowed the honor and distinction of being appointed a new member of CEDIA’s influential Board of Directors. In this new role, Chen along with other CEDIA Board elects will provide valuable foresight and perspective to prepare CEDIA members for the future. With more than 30 years’ experience in the AV industry as a visionary, entrepreneur and global thought leader, and extensive involvement in the development and execution of CEDIA initiatives, Chen has demonstrated himself a driven, dedicated, and loyal steward of the systems integration industry and its continued growth. 

Last year’s CEDIA Fellow recipient, Chen has served on CEDIA’s Technology Council, Governance Committee and Certification Commission, which creates industry accredited certification to ANSI and ISO/IEC 17024 standards for professional systems technicians. He is now part of the RP23 video standards working group.  

“Serving on the CEDIA Board allows me to take my commitment and contribution to this industry to the next level,” Chen says. “I look forward to working with my fellow CEDIA leaders, assisting CEDIA to navigate its next stage of evolution and develop the organisation and its members for even greater success. I hope my perspective and insight will prove beneficial and help elevate our CEDIA community as a globally recognised and highly valued professional vocation.”   

Chen’s background in the professional AV community is as diverse as it is extensive. He started out in the trenches as a systems integrator, where he quickly discovered the challenges of designing and deploying networking systems and the limitations of products on the market. Naturally inquisitive, he knew “there had to be a better way”. Eager to simplify and streamline cabling installation, after some years working with global brands like Epson, Samsung and BenQ, Chen joined Kordz in 2008, where he spearheads the company’s development of multi-award-winning and patented cable innovation and has expanded distribution to more than 40 countries.   

“It’s been my dream and personal mission to help this industry become the very best it can be. My appointment to the CEDIA Board gives me a powerful platform to inspire and drive positive change through better standards, education, support and recognition,” Chen continues.
